Quantum Hall effect

The effect in which Hall resistivity changes by steps so that it is a fraction of h/e2 where h is planck's constant and e is the electronic charge. Observed in two-dimensional semiconductors (e.g., metal-oxide-silicon) at high magnetic fields and ultra-low temperatures. See also Hall effect.
