About Shelby Super Cars

Shelby Super Cars (SSC) is an American automobile manufacturer of exotic supercars based out of the Tri-Cities in Washington State. The company is owned by Jerod Shelby, unrelated to Carroll Shelby.

They build the SSC Aero, equipped with supercharged General Motors pushrod engined V8s. Its turbocharged 6.35 liter (387.2 cubic inch) V8 produces 1183 bhp, which makes it the most powerful production car in the world, beating the Bugatti Veyron's 1001. On September 13th, 2007, the "Ultimate Aero" also took the title of fastest production car from the Bugatti Veyron.

In order for the achievement to be official under the Guinness World Records’ guidelines, a vehicle testing for the top speed record must race down the course, turn around, and make a second pass in the opposite direction within one hour. The vehicle’s ‘top speed’ is calculated by averaging the top speeds of each pass in order to negate any favorable road or weather conditions. The Ultimate Aero posted a top speed of 257.11mph (413.83km/h) on its first pass and 254.55mph (409.71km/h) on its return pass to set the new top speed record of 256.15 mph (412.233 km/h). The speeds, on a closed stretch of highway in Washington State, were recorded using a series of satellites and several on board sensors, with independent firm Dewetron on hand to monitor progress.

Car Insurance FAQs #3

Why is the insurance company not returning all of my premium after the policy was canceled?

Depending on the type of policy, you may be required to pay a minimum premium, or the premium may be fully "earned." In other instances, if you replaced your coverage with a different company, during the policy term, you may be subject to a "short-rate" penalty, which is usually about 10% of the unearned amount. You might also have some premium due for recent changes in coverage. The company should be able to provide a detailed billing history that explains the return-premium calculation.

Am I required to complete a medical questionnaire?
